Wit, Wisdom, and a Wink

College is one of the most exciting, overwhelming, and transformative seasons in one’s life. It’s where laundry piles high, sleep runs low, and caffeine becomes a love language. But it’s also where identity is formed, friendships are forged, and purpose begins to take shape.

Inspired by conversations with our own college bound kids, The Book of Dormin’ was created to help students make that leap—from home to dorm, from dependence to adulthood—with a bit of wit, a bit of wisdom, and lot of love.

Written in a style that blends comical ancient verse with modern college reality, this book offers practical lessons for everyday life: how to wash your clothes, clean your bathroom, make your bed (like you actually mean it), manage money, resolve conflict, and even stay out of jail. It is much more than just a survival guide. The attached Apocrypha of Lost Scrolls (big word…we know) has eternal biblical truths we’ve learned the along the way (and sometimes the hard way)—about responsibility, relationships, purpose, and faith. These are the kinds of lessons that don’t always show up in a syllabus but matter just as much as anything you’ll learn in a lecture hall.

We hope it makes you smile.

Meet The Authors

Shane & Casie Stephens

Meet Shane & Casie—a married duo doing their best to launch three incredible kids into adulthood. At the time of writing, they've got one navigating her senior year of college, one stepping into his freshman year, and one preparing to join the dorm-life adventure after finishing high school.

They're Christ followers who, many years after their own college days, finally discovered that the best path in life isn’t the one paved by personal ambition—but by surrendering to God’s will. Along the way (sometimes the hard way), we’ve learned that wisdom, patience, and prayer go a lot further than pride, hurry, or the illusion of control.

By day, Casie is the founder of Holidorm.com, a site and blog helping parents and dorm dwellers turn tiny dorm rooms into warm, welcoming spaces. Shane is the founder of an automotive marketing company, focused on connecting automakers with consumers through smarter, more meaningful marketing.

They weren't planning to be authors. Writing a book was never part of "their" plan. But God nudged—and they had learned not to ignore that. So after thinking about what they wanted to teach their college bound kid (and their son coming up with a great name for a guide) The Book of Dormin' was born.
